With nearly sixty years of combined experience in private practice, Michael D. Hovde, Jr. and Jacqueline Tufo have represented many clients with a wide range of legal needs.

Hovde & Tufo Law's mission is to provide our clients with the highest level of personal and professional legal representation at a reasonable cost. Our goal is to obtain a favorable outcome for our clients, while attempting to minimize the costs involved within the legal process. When necessary, our firm will advise a client if we feel their position is unwarranted, or will needlessly increase the costs of legal proceedings.

Our Team

Jacqueline Tufo

A graduate of Driscoll Catholic High School in Addison, Illinois, Jacqueline received her B.A. from Elmhurst College and her J.D. from John Marshall School of Law in 1995. She was admitted to practice by the Supreme Court of Illinois and the Federal Court for the Northern District of Illinois in 1995. In 2005, she was admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court in Washington, D.C.

Jackie's areas of law focus on all aspects of family law which includes divorce, child custody, child support, paternity, adoption, and enforcing or modifying judgments for dissolution of marriage.

Jackie is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, DuPage County Bar Association, and Bloomingdale Chamber of Commerce.

Jackie is a charter member of 100 Women Who Care.

Jackie participates in the Student to Business Partnership with Lake Park High School, hosting students who are interested in the law, and introducing them to court proceedings and the daily work of a practicing attorney.

Michael D. Hovde Jr.

A graduate of Lake Park High School in Roselle, Illinois, Mike received his B.A. from Southern Illinois University - Carbondale and his J.D. from Southern Illinois University School of Law in 1994.

He was admitted to practice by the Illinois Supreme Court and the Federal Court for the Northern District of Illinois in 1994. He was admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court in 2005.

Mike's areas of practice are in real estate, including residential and commercial transactions, installment agreements. evictions, lease review, estate planning, including wills, powers of attorney, living trusts, land trusts, and trust administration, probate, small estate affidavits, corporate and business law, civil litigation, traffic and criminal law. 

 Mike is the current Bloomingdale Township Supervisor, elected in 2017 and re-elected to his second 4 year term in 2021.  Previously, Mike was elected as a Bloomingdale Village Trustee in 2011 and re-elected to a second term in 2015 where he was chair of Planning, Zoning and Environmental Affairs and a member of the Intergovernmental - Planning Committee of the DuPage Mayors and Managers Conference.  

 Mike also currently serves as President of the Metropolitan Township Association, elected in 2021 and re-elected in 2023.  The Metropolitan Township Association represents over 2.6 million residents in 34 Townships in Cook, DeKalb, DuPage, Kane, Kankakee, Lake, and Will counties in the Chicago Metro Area.

 Mike also previously served as a board member and President of Clare Oaks in Bartlett, a $100 million continuing care retirement community which features 164 apartments and cottages and 153 skilled nursing beds, assisted living beds and memory support beds.

 Mike is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, DuPage County Bar Association, Chicago Bar Association, MENSA, Bloomingdale Chamber of Commerce, Carol Stream Chamber of Commerce, Roselle Chamber of Commerce, and Township Officials of Illinois.

Mike has been the President of the Bloomingdale School District 13 Education Foundation, since it was founded in 1998. The foundation is a charitable tax exempt organization which raises money for Bloomingdale Elementary School District 13.

Mike is also a board member and Secretary of the Hank Gianvecchio Natural Habitat Area Foundation, and a board member of the Bloomingdale Parks Foundation.

Mary A. Meyer

Mary is currently the Senior Paralegal at Hovde & Tufo Law, LLC. She has more than 20 years of experience in the legal industry. Mary assists Jacqueline Tufo and Michael Hovde with client management, supervision of staff, preparation of pleadings, calendaring deadlines for filing of documents, and trial preparation.

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE

Mary previously served as a Litigation Paralegal for a personal injury law firm where she assisted with client management, staff supervision, tracked and maintained case files, calendaring of statute of limitations and drafted pleadings for filing.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

Mary received her degree with Honors in Paralegal studies from Elgin Community College, which teaches an award-winning certified program approved by the American Bar Association (ABA).

PROFESSIONAL AFFILIATIONS

Mary is a member of the DuPage County Bar Association (DCBA) and held the position as Vice Chairperson of the Paralegal Division from 2018-2019 and Chairperson from 2019-2020. During her time as Vice-Chair and Chairperson, Mary was in charge of recruiting guest speakers including Attorneys, court personnel, legal software companies, etc. to speak at monthly Paralegal meetings. These meetings were attended by any members of the DCBA who wished to attend, including Paralegals, Attorneys, Legal Assistants, Office Managers and all Legal personnel.

Alexandra (Allie) N. Wallich

Allie is currently the Detail-oriented Legal Assistant at Hovde & Tufo Law, LLC. She has more than 5+ years of experience in the Legal Industry and fast-paced law firm environment. She assists Michael Hovde, Jacqueline Tufo, and Hovde and Tufo’s Senior Paralegal, Mary Meyer, with drafting legal documents, court filings, scheduling client meetings, and managing case files. Allie is in communication and collaboration with clients and court personnel to ensure successful case outcomes.

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE IN THE LEGAL INDUSTRY

Allie previously served as a DuPage Clerk of the circuit court where she worked in the civil department. She was a counter clerk and assisted Prose litigants and attorneys in case filings and civil matters.
